DISC Blu-safe

The archiving expert DISC presents its new product, the Blu-safe. DISC addresses with the Blu-safe all the users, who want to store data for a long time and safely. It is meant for SME (small and medium-sized firms) but also for application areas at the tax advisors, the self-employed or doctor practices. With the DISC Blu-safe, it is offered for the first time an automatic professional data archive with a capacity going up to 1 Terabyte. Crucial were the many demands of SME and institutions for which the actual Library solutions were too large. Because also the smaller data files must be secured against revision and must be stored for a long time and this without data lost.

The Blu-safe is based on the newest Blu-ray Technology with 50 GB media and is a mini archive with 15 BD slots and one USB 2.0 interface for user friendly connection. Thanks to the open architecture of the Blu-safe you can get access to many applications, like: digital photos, DICOM Images, HD A/V, DMS or Back-up etc. With the built-in Blu-ray Disc Multi-Recorder, all the standard CD/DVD media can also be read and written. The DISC Blu-safe is compatible with Windows and provides a simple and intuitive use. The DISC Blu-safe makes it possible for every accessed data to be archived safely and for a long time. The integrated Offline Media Management guarantees furthermore a high data availability, even for an almost limitless offline capacity of approximately 14 million files. The archive capacity grows when needed and gives the clearest overview possible of all the files, even when those are rarely needed and erased from the Blu-safe.

In the DISC Blu-safe there are 15 Slots with HSM Functionality – i.e. that the files which have not been needed for a long time can be automatically copied from the hard disc on a Blu-ray™ Disc. In the original list a link can especially be made. The back-up copies can also be easily executed in the same manner. Without the usual comfort loss from Back-up Recovery times, the files remain directly accessible. Another advantage of this multiple phases is that the existing hard disc is not overloaded any further, because of the transfer of archived files on cheap and long conserved media. The 15 BD Slot is also available to the user for other applications like f.e. the Windows Media Player.

With an 80 percent economy on your energy consumption compared to the actual RAID systems, the DISC also complies with its new products to the new environment requirements of data storage solutions. Furthermore the combination of the Blu-ray™ Discs stability and the reliability of longevity and secure data storage are guaranteed. With the Blu-safe the longevity archiving of data stays secure and is no longer exclusively reserved to computer centres. The Blu-safe belongs on every workplace where sensitive and enterprise critical data are managed.
